If you’re a fan of Nashville hot chicken, Crimson Coward is definitely worth a visit. I ordered the garlic chicken wrap with the mild spice level, and it was packed with flavor. The chicken was juicy, fresh, and cooked to order.
The French fries were just as impressive. They give you a generous portion and the seasoning on the fries was absolutely delicious.
One thing to know is that they make each order fresh, so don’t expect chicken that’s been sitting under a heat lamp. You may have to wait a few extra minutes, but it’s well worth it for hot, freshly prepared food. Great flavors, and quality that’s worth the wait!

The food was great. Though I had to wait for the spice to die down to eat it. Very tasty high quality and large chicken. Definitely eat here. Five stars

I really hope I just came on a bad day, because this place unfortunately underdelivered quite a bit. I ordered a 3 tender meal alongside a side of mac and cheese, which already came out far pricier than most hot chicken I’ve eaten in SoCal, but I was willing to accept that may be for the quality I’m getting. unfortunately that was not the case. the bathroom was inaccessible, and the drink fountain had no ice, which already sucked quite a bit considering you’re eating spicy food. the service wasn’t the fastest, but there was only one person behind the counter working so it’s understandable. the chicken itself is very high quality, but it’s quite lacking in flavor which is a huge disappointment for the price, I essentially had to douse mine in sauce for it not to taste like just plain chicken that was hot. the fries are quite good but I wouldn’t call them exceptional. the mac and cheese was my favorite thing on the menu by far, and I was glad I ordered it even at it’s steep price for a handheld cup. overall, it was a just ok experience leaning negative, which isn’t up to par against the many cheaper hot chicken places in SoCal that offer better food and service…

One of my friends who comes to visit Downey once in a long while had suggested this place for good chicken sandwiches.
Originally me and my family tried in a different location(cannot recall where it was exactly) however this location had better quality in the chicken.
It was lunch time on a Sunday afternoon and all but one table were occupied. We ordered our meals and waited at the available table in the back. The lady who took our order was very pleasant and courteous (she wore a black hijab).
About 10 minutes later our order was ready, we noticed that the table closest to the entrance was about to become available so we grabbed our food and headed toward that said table. The one we were at was smaller and wanted to sit more comfortably.
Our host and server informed us that it would be just a few minutes later for the last order and I informed her that we were going to the other table.
She immediately got some cleaning supplies and wiped down the table which was very accommodating on her part.
I wasn’t that hungry so I got the slider which was very tender, juicy and delicious. So much better than the other location. Wifey ordered their loaded Mac n cheese which was the order that took a few minutes more. That too was awesome in flavor.
Our daughter ordered the chicken tenders and waffles. The waffles were just a tad undercooked (could’ve stayed in the waffle iron a little bit longer) however she enjoyed the chicken a lot and ate most of her portions.
I know the restaurant is a small space and we came at a really busy time of day, however the food and service was worth coming for.
The music playlist on the other hand could use a bit more diversity. A bit one sided in my opinion. I get it, attract more Highschool & College students however that’s the vibe we got and not to be the main focus at this location.
The service and quality of the food was what made the difference here and I’ll give them that(as we were leaving and needed a ‘to-go’ box I asked our server who was also breading chicken and frying was a tad bit busy, she replied with politeness that it would be just a minute, her coworker noticed that her hands were full and took the initiative to accomodate us(young Latino gentlemen) So if we’re in Downey again and have a chicken sandwich craving, we’ll come back and check out more things on the menu.
Great job on your service, quality, and freshness of your food.
I’m big on customer service and your service here is at a high level.
Please don’t change that, it makes a huge difference when your staff not only takes care of business, however your patrons as well.

You have to order thru the app, you can’t call and place an order that’s the only bummer. After placing the order online it took about 25-30 min, they had an option to cut the sandwich in half which i selected and they unfortunately didn’t do, I also asked for no pickles on one sandwich and both had it regardless. There’s no distinction on which one is what when you get the order. So when selecting options on the app to place an order they may not do what you selected. We got the hottest level burn baby burn-and hot. It was pretty good, the chicken was well cooked and juicy. We spent roughly $40 on both our orders, two sandwiches, two scoops of fries and one drink. Would consider going back.
